There is the question of what the Church in China, especially the registered National Committee of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches in China or Three-Self Patriotic Movement and the China Christian Council, has been doing in regard to providing for the equally dramatic rise in the need for Christian education.
Then there are the professed goals of the TSPM/CCC: among these, the emphasis of the need for Christians to be ‘patriotic,’ the emphasis on adopting Chinese cultural elements in the expression of the Christian faith and now the emphasis on the promotion of interreligious harmony at an exhibition held since last week in Singapore.
Furthermore, is the relationship between the registered and unregistered churches truly improving? What are the obstacles in the way? And what exactly is the relationship between the Protestant and Catholic Churches in the world’s most populous nation?
